Come on down to Texas ya'll!

There is a saying here...I wasn't born in Texas, but I got here as quick as I could! Enjoy.

Who's busy now?

Do you ever wonder where the time goes...just sewing along and then you take note of the time....oops, dinner is going to be late again! My poor husband just doesn't cook, doesn't like it at all. I don't mind, I actually love it, and the trade off is priceless.

He washes the dishes and cleans up after me...everytime!

No, he is not for rent, even if you whine.

I did make him a nice dinner, quick and easy. I took 3 medium size potatoes, scrubbed them and cut into lengthwise pieces, drizzled olive oil on, garlic salt, pepper and fresh rosemary. Popped em in the oven (425) for about 30 mins. While they were cooking, I took some pre-tenderized beef and cut into "finger" chunks, dipped into flour, salt, pepper and dropped into pre-heated veggie oil (medium high) and let them cook until light brown, turn and continue until 2nd side is light brown, done! I also grabbed a bag of frozen broccoli tops out of the freezer, microwaved them and slathered the butter on.

One of the things I couldn't get used to in Texas (please forgive me all y'all Texans) is chicken fried steak. Just can't eat it more then 1-2 times a year, lol. My poor husband was raised here and he doesn't care for it either. We do like steak fingers...kind of a mini version of chicken fried steak!

I better get moving on my latest project...the disappearing 9 patch. I found one on someone elses blog and thought it was way cool! Hope so, will let y'all know, lol!

Don't forget to head over to: http://faithfulquilter.blogspot.com/ for a giveaway of Civil War fabrics, yummy! Her name is Elaine too, coincidence...you decide, lol!

My name says it all!

I received a few emails asking about the soggy bottom of the blog. Have you ever been to East Texas? lol.

We live less then 500 feet above sea level. We also have a rainfall average of 43.68 inches of rain a year. We have lived here long enough to know a few truths about Texas.

1. When you see someone at wally world buying a lawn sprinkler, you laugh and KNOW they ain't from around here!

2, You never wear socks and rubber shoes at the same time...EVER!

3. Should your shoe sink in the barnyard, DO NOT, I REPEAT, DO NOT ATTEMPT TO REMOVE SAID SHOE WHILE STANDING. The barnyard is chemically similar to gorilla glue, you land on your butt in aforementioned gorilla glue/barnyard soup and become one with the glop, hence soggy bottom...my husband added the flats, don't know why.

A few pics of Jenny the guard burro, Dakota the gorgeous paint, little Black Beauty and Billy the Kid.

Stay dry and warm, Elaine~~~this was the rain from last Friday~~~

Waiting on a man~~~

My husband asked if I wanted to go with him to a gun show. I took a handful of piecing and embroidery projects to work on. I would just as soon sit in the truck and let my husband take his time, not have to answer my goofy questions and wander at his leisure. We actually do this for each other...he sits in the truck while I wander the aisles at my favorite thrift stores.

After he was done we hit our favorite antique shop...if you ever get to Terrell, Texas and you have the time...and you love shabby chic, this is the place to visit. I didn't remember my camera...ughhhh!!!...but next time I won't. I believe it's 2 ladies and they specialize in shabby chic, 30's French apartment, linens, architectural elements from old buildings and just fun stuff. I have to go back very soon and take my camera. I told the lady I wanted to work there. She has a blog at http://jrne.blogspot.com/ but no pics as of this am, bummer. I guess I will have to try some next week..hopefully.

We had a great weekend together, polished off the day with bar-b-que from our favorite restaurant in Canton.

I better get my shop ready for First Monday. Wahoo. Have a great week, Elaine
