I'm having a giveaway~~~wahooooo!!!

I have been in quilting heaven with my little baboo. So far, a nice little stack o quilts, finished, bound, washed and loved up. I have actually been having fun (omg, what if they go back and read older posts about machine quilting being not fun).

I also realized that I hit blog #50 and need to do a giveaway! Makes my heart flip flop just thinking about it! Lets have some fun with it.

All you have to do is leave a comment here about what you are planning, gift wise, to do for Christmas or Hannakah (hope the spell checker police are sleeping on that one) or Kwanzaa this year? That's it. The only comments that count will be on this blog only.

Please, please, please...leave your email with your comment. If you don't leave your email addy or blog addy, I will chose another one. There will be 2 winners...one in the USA and another International.

The winnings are a surprise...and the winner will be chosen Sunday night. Good luck and tell all your friends. Sorry, no extra entries for posting or following. I am much to busy quilting to figure that out!

More quilting done and a giveaway

I am dragging out every box and bin I own and giving everything the once over...can I quilt that? I am having so much fun machine quilting. It's funny, I never had any desire to machine quilt, didn't want to learn, refused to learn...now I am eyeing everything around me.

I have amassed a big number of quilt tops that are hand pieced, some of them quite old. These are not for baboo...my sweet little Janome...oh heck no, they are JUST for hand quilting only!

Stop by http://terrytreasures.blogspot.com/ for her giveaway, lots of fun things to be given away. Now back to the binding on my scrappy log cabin...photo later when it's finished from the washer and dryer...Elaine

what was I thinking?

I really am trying to de-clutter and downsize. You know, get rid of things I really don't need. But...my little baboo awaits me...another one done...waaahhhhhoooooo!

I know...I need to work on my meandering stitch, but I had to try it out!

Gotta go, another quilt awaits me...Elaine

Mr.Froggy...I love you!

I finally finished the frogs...can you see the great lily pad fabric I found in my shop...totally perfect for the border...did I mention that before, lol.

So I took a deep breath, pin basted Mr.Froggy quilt with my favorite batting, cotton request and a green mottled fabric and started cross hatch quilting. I hated it. It was awful!

Reason 1: ahhh, hello, did it ever occur to me to use a really cool thread...like GREEN or varigated?

Reason 2: did I really have multi seizures during the sewing?

Reason 3: oh I know...always start with something smaller and work up to something bigger...especially if it has appliques!

No worries, Liam will love his froggy buddy blankie and that is really the important factor. I did learn alot while quilting this. I actually was amazed at how quickly it went. I am not sure I would do cross hatch quilting on a piece with appliques again...ever!

Will I ever machine quilt again...oh you betcha! I have a really big pile of tops begging to be quilted. I will do a bunch of little pieces first to try and get comfortable with the technique before I do another biggie.

I do love the crinkly look and comfy feel of it...it amazed me how wonderful it was.

Off to bed with me, now go quilt something, Elaine

My first time~~~and I am still a bunch nervous!

I have gazed longingly at other quilters' blogs. I dream of being able to do it to. Tonight I jumped in and attempted my first quilted item on the machine. I put some dark thread on the top with white underneath so I could check out the tension. Last time I do that. I actually began to relax and have fun with it. I switched back to white thread and happily putzed along.

It is the red headed step child of the pot holder world. It is single handedly the UGLIEST thing I have ever seen. But..it's mine. I made it. It's going up in the kitchen in a place of honor right next to a loopy potholder my bff made for me a few weeks back. I am putting the binding on the little sucker tomorrow and that baby is going up! Wahoo, I made it, lol. Now I may need a pork chop in a can before bed. Yep, getting a little hungry.

If you ever decide to try machine quilting for the first time, just try it. It really was run. Later, Elaine
